Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale recently opened up about the ongoing lawsuit filed against him by his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bullgod. The dispute dates back to late 2022 when Bullgod sued Shatta Wale for defamation after the artist threatened to reveal alleged secrets surrounding the death of the late manager Fennec Okyere.
In an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Shatta Wale revealed that he and Bullgod had reached an agreement to settle the case out of court. As part of this settlement, Shatta Wale was supposed to pay GH₵100,000 in legal fees, but the payment has not been made yet.
Shatta Wale explained that his team tried to make the payment, but Bullgod was not in Ghana at the time. He also suggested that Bullgod’s decision to return to court was motivated by personal reasons rather than a genuine legal need.
With his signature humor, Shatta Wale added, “Bullgod just wants his money. He wasn’t in Ghana when we tried to make the payment. His house is so close to the court that he heads there at the slightest opportunity. When a chicken clucks, he goes to court, and when a taxi driver honks, he’s there too.”
The defamation lawsuit had initially been filed in late 2022, and in March 2023, both parties agreed to an out-of-court settlement. However, Shatta Wale’s failure to honor his commitment has led to the matter being revisited in court.
The dispute between the two former collaborators continues to unfold, and it remains to be seen when the issue will be resolved.
