Renowned Hollywood actor Denzel Washington has opened up about his concerns regarding the pervasive influence of social media on today’s youth. Reflecting on how life was different in his earlier years, Washington emphasized the challenges faced by the current generation, who navigate a world shaped by constant connectivity and online scrutiny. “I pray for your generation because we didn’t have to deal with what you’re facing now. It’s our fault for putting it in your hands,” Washington said. The acclaimed actor, who has consciously avoided creating social media accounts, pointed out the potential harm of these platforms. He noted how they can distort reality and foster a culture of fleeting approval and unexpected criticism. “There weren’t millions of opinions bombarding me every moment of the day. People who liked you didn’t suddenly hate you, leaving you wondering why. “I’ve never had an Instagram or LinkedIn account,” he added, reinforcing his decision to remain disconnected from the social media frenzy. Washington’s heartfelt words serve as a reminder for young people to approach social media with caution and self-awareness, understanding the potential pitfalls while striving to maintain a sense of reality amidst the virtual noise.
