Ghanaian highlife artist Rex Omar has expressed his full support for Dzifa Gomashie’s appointment as the minister-designate for Tourism and Creative Arts. The veteran musician praised the decision, stating that he believes Gomashie is well-suited for the role and has what it takes to excel in the sector.
Although many pundits had speculated that Rex Omar himself might be appointed to lead the ministry, due to his significant involvement in promoting creative arts during Mahama’s campaign, the position was instead awarded to Gomashie.
In a media interview on Saturday, the “Wodo fo ne Hwan” hitmaker shared his thoughts on the appointment, emphasizing that it was a step in the right direction for the creative industry. He also noted that he had no doubts about Gomashie’s ability to succeed in her new role.
“If you look at President Mahama’s appointments, you’ll see that most of them, including Dzifa, served as deputy ministers in the previous administration. This experience puts them in a strong position to make a meaningful impact,” Rex Omar stated.
The musician made it clear that he was not disappointed by the decision not to appoint him, saying, “I was given a task during the campaign, and I’ve fulfilled it. I’ve never sought a reward for that. With all the experience Dzifa brings to the table, she has my full backing to thrive in her new role.”
Rex Omar’s comments highlight his continued commitment to the creative arts and his belief that Gomashie is the right person to take the industry forward.
