Ghana Food Festival 2024 set to promote food tourism and local businesses

The 2024 edition of the Ghana Food Festival (GFF) is dedicated to promoting start-ups, local businesses, and food tourism in Ghana.

Scheduled for Saturday, July 27th, the event will take place at the Legon City Mall forecourt, opposite the University of Ghana, Gate 2, in Accra, from 9 am to 11 pm.

Organised by Pen it Multimedia Limited, a digital media and events management company in Accra, the carnival aims to unite food, arts, and entertainment enthusiasts.

The 2024 edition is supported by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Legon City Mall, GMI Motors, Hype Arena, Doomur, EgoTickets, and Out Fun.

Others include Travel and Tour World, Ameyaw Debrah Media, Angel FM, The Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), Ghana News Agency (GNA), Okasa.p, News Ghana, The Spectator, and Ghana Plus.

The Founder and CEO of Pen it Multimedia Limited, Mr. Emmanuel T. Forson, stated that the event will celebrate the country’s tourism, arts, and entertainment ecosystems.

He said that the 2024 edition is expected to be a platform for entrepreneurs and businesses in the food and non-food sectors to showcase and sell their products to a large audience.

He emphasised that the festival would feature local cuisines and drinks from all 16 regions of Ghana.

“Food tourism can attract foreigners to Ghana, alongside our tourist attractions and peaceful atmosphere. Our event aims to draw more foreigners into the country,” he added.

Attendees will enjoy a variety of local cuisines, including fufu, tuo-zaafi, akple, banku, and the renowned Ghana Jollof.

Other dishes will include waakye, kenkey, omotuo, ampesi, and fried yam. Ghanaian beverages and snacks such as corn and plantain, sobolo, asaana, and pito will also be available.

He stated that the event is free to attend and encouraged Ghanaians and other nationals to attend and experience the country through its cuisines.

“Ghana Food Festival will provide business and networking opportunities, fostering partnerships among sponsors, vendors, exhibitors, and attendees,” he said.

The event will feature a kids’ playground, a gaming arena, sip and paint sessions, an eating contest, a flip and eat competition, artiste performances, and dancing contests.

Food vendors, businesses manufacturing made-in-Ghana products, and those involved in continental dishes and other products are encouraged to book their stands.

Companies and individuals that want to partner or sponsor the event should contact +233(0)556317400 or email ghanafoodfestival@gmail.com.
