Ghana bids farewell today to legendary highlife musician Dada KD (Nana Kwaku Duah), as his burial service takes place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The ceremony, which has drawn hundreds of mourners, is being held with the support of the Ministry of Tourism,Arts and Culture, a gesture that reflects the national importance of Dada KD’s contribution to music and culture.
Dada KD, who passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 56, was celebrated for timeless hits such as “Odo Mu Anigye”, “Adi Nye Wop” and “Fatia Fata Nkrumah.” His unique voice and soulful lyrics made him a household name and one of the most respected figures in Ghana’s highlife music scene.
The funeral has attracted government officials, musicians, industry stakeholders, and fans, all united in paying their last respects to an artist whose music spanned decades and touched generations. Tributes highlight not only his artistry but also his humility and dedication to preserving highlife as a cultural treasure.
Family representatives have expressed gratitude to the state and the Ghanaian public for the overwhelming support and recognition given to the late musician.
Dada KD’s burial at such a significant national venue underscores his status as more than an entertainer he was a cultural icon whose songs will remain part of Ghana’s musical heritage.
