Ghanaian rapper King Paluta has sparked a heated debate online after questioning the loyalty of some social media influencers who previously supported him but have now shifted their allegiance to another artiste in the race for the 2025 TGMA Artiste of the Year title.

In a tweet shared on April 2, 2025, the rapper expressed his surprise at seeing an influencer who had been actively rallying behind him suddenly declare that he no longer deserves the award. This unexpected shift led King Paluta to wonder whether these influencers were being paid to promote other artistes instead.

“I’ve seen one guy who was supporting me heavily. Even last week, he was all about ‘Paluta for AOTY.’ Yesterday, I checked, and he said I don’t deserve the award anymore. Is every Twitter influencer on the payroll already? Lol Ghana Music, wake up!” he wrote, blending Pidgin and English in his statement.

Despite his disappointment, King Paluta admitted that he was not angry about the situation. Instead, he acknowledged the realities of the industry, stating that if he were in the influencer’s position and was offered money, he would also take it.

“Bro, I’m not mad at you at all. Even me, if they bring me the money, I’ll take it. Do your job, bro,” he added.

His comments, however, did not sit well with many social media users, as his tweet quickly went viral, attracting both support and backlash. While some fans empathized with his frustration, others criticized him for suggesting that influencers’ loyalties could be bought.

As the 2025 TGMA Artiste of the Year race heats up, King Paluta’s remarks have added a new layer of conversation about the role of social media influencers in shaping public opinion in the music industry. Whether this debate will impact his campaign for the coveted award remains to be seen.
