Ghanaian rapper and singer Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, popularly known as Amerado, has proudly highlighted the rising dominance of Ghanaian music on the charts. According to him, his hit song Kwaku Ananse marked the beginning of a new era, where Ghanaian artists reclaimed their top spots from Nigerian songs that previously led the charts.

“Humbly, I can emphatically say that it started from the time I released Kweku Ananse. Since its release, both the original and remix, no Nigerian song has topped the charts in Ghana. I’m extremely proud of my brothers who are also dropping amazing Highlife music.”

Amerado acknowledged the efforts of fellow Ghanaian artists like Fameye and King Paluta, who continue to push boundaries with their remarkable Highlife and rap tracks. Their contributions, he noted, have elevated the local music scene, making Ghanaian music more attractive and influential.

His remarks, however, weren’t made to spark rivalry but to celebrate the success of the Ghanaian music industry. “It’s not about hate or offense,” he clarified. “It’s about recognizing the hard work we’re all putting in to bring Highlife and rap to the forefront.”

Amerado also encouraged his colleagues to stay committed to promoting Ghanaian genres, emphasizing the potential for even greater global recognition.

This resurgence in Ghanaian music signals a significant shift, with local artists reclaiming their dominance on home charts and pushing Highlife and rap to new heights.

With chart-topping hits and a renewed focus on homegrown talent, Ghanaian music is poised for an even brighter future on the global stage.
