On May 9, 2025, the historic Independence Square in Accra, Ghana, will come alive with music, purpose, and unity as The DreamChild Foundation presents the 2025 HoodTalk Music Festival: Unity Edition. Headlined by Ghana’s own global music icon, Stonebwoy, and broadcast to over 195 countries, the festival promises not just a musical spectacle, but a humanitarian mission on a scale never before seen in West Africa.

This year’s HoodTalk Music Festival aims to raise $14 million to construct five pediatric clinics across underserved regions in Ghana. The event is a collaboration between DreamChild Foundation and powerhouse partners Virtual Hub, StepNorth, Platinum Star Media Group, Inc., and Fly-Away Promotions, Inc.

Kofi Amoakohene, Co-founder of the DreamChild Foundation, described the vision with clarity and urgency.

We plan to achieve SDG 3—health for children—for peace and prosperity. Our focus is on sustainable health infrastructure that gives every child a chance at life.

A Global Movement Rooted in Culture

Since its grassroots beginnings, HoodTalk has evolved into a global platform that merges art, advocacy, and cultural heritage. The 2025 theme, “Connecting Music, Heritage, and Humanity,” reflects the festival’s deep commitment to youth empowerment, creative expression, and international solidarity.

At the heart of this year’s event are two remarkable co-hosts who embody that spirit:

  • Dr. Marie Y. Lemelle, PhD, International Goodwill Ambassador for the DreamChild Foundation and CEO of Platinum Star Public Relations, Inc.

  • Dr. Hasaan Rasheed, actor in the blockbuster film Black Panthers, All-American track star turned humanitarian, and CEO of Fly-Away Promotions, Inc.

Dr. Rasheed, whose next feature film was shot in Ghana, will debut an exclusive trailer during the festival. His words capture the essence of the event:

Where legends rise and voices unite: Join us as we craft a global crescendo. Your music deserves the world’s ears.

A Day of Remembrance and Resolve

The Unity Edition of HoodTalk is also a tribute. It honors the memory of the May 9, 2001 stadium tragedy, in which 127 lives were lost during a football match in Accra. HoodTalk seeks to transform this day of sorrow into one of healing and solidarity—through the unifying power of music.

Ghana’s outgoing president, H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, offered a passionate call to action to young people across the continent and the world:

I call on the world’s youth—particularly the youth of Africa—to play an active role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The global goals are peace and prosperity for people and the planet. The world needs your creativity, knowledge, reach, and energy to help find innovative solutions to our world’s challenges.

An Open Call to Artists Worldwide

In an unprecedented opportunity, artists, performers, and cultural groups from around the globe are invited to apply for a chance to perform live on the HoodTalk stage. Set before an in-person audience of over 15,000 people and broadcast to millions more, this is more than a performance—it is a chance to make an impact that transcends borders.

Dr. Marie Lemelle emphasized the importance of the moment:

“Music is the universal language for healing, giving back, and making a difference. Bring your voice to the world stage to help the children in Ghana have access to hospitals.

A Festival in Two Powerful Acts

The 2025 HoodTalk Music Festival offers a two-part experience designed to inspire action and amplify change:

1. The Youth Festival
This platform, driven by young voices, highlights critical global topics such as climate change, sustainable development, and innovation in Africa. Discussions and artistic expressions will intersect, revealing a new generation of leaders and visionaries.

2. The CSR Fundraising Drive
The festival’s core mission is to raise $14 million to fund the construction and operation of five pediatric health centers. These facilities will not only provide lifesaving care for children, but will also contribute to Ghana’s long-term health infrastructure.

Lights, Music, and Unforgettable Moments

The energy of the event will be amplified by a dynamic lineup of hosts and performers:

  • MC Merquary Quaye
  • MC Portfolio
  • MC Tell

Joining them behind the decks is DJ Spices, the youngest female DJ to ever perform at HoodTalk, bringing vibrant energy and representation to the spotlight.

Live coverage will be provided by KGCV DTV, a dedicated HoodTalk channel ensuring that the festival’s message reaches every corner of the globe.

Be Part of the Legacy

HoodTalk 2025 is more than a concert. It is a call to humanity. A call to artists, advocates, and dreamers to be the voice of change. To perform for a cause. To raise their voices for the next generation.
