The entertainment scene in Ghana is currently buzzing with controversy as Dennis Tawiah, CEO of Akwaaba UK, strongly refutes allegations of sabotage made by Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz. The dispute centers around a scheduling conflict between Stonebwoy’s upcoming UK album tour and Akwaaba UK’s Ghana Independence concert, both set for March 8, 2025.
During a heated phone-in session on Hitz FM, the two industry figures clashed over claims that Akwaaba UK deliberately scheduled their event to interfere with Stonebwoy’s tour. Chief Stylz insisted that his team had booked the date back in October 2024, only to later discover that Akwaaba UK had set their Independence concert for the same day.
However, Dennis Tawiah was quick to dismiss these allegations, providing a detailed timeline of his event’s booking. He revealed that Akwaaba UK had finalized their agreement for the O2 Indigo venue as far back as May 4, 2024, following Medikal’s show, with full payment completed on August 24, 2024. According to him, Stonebwoy’s October 2024 announcement held no weight since Akwaaba UK had secured the date months in advance.
“Do you know when I booked the O2 Indigo? It was four months before the Ghana Independence. If you say you came with an announcement in October, that is nothing. The booking and payment were made on August 24, 2024, and the initial contract was made in May 2024. If Chief is talking without facts, I will send him the proof,” Tawiah stated.
Despite Tawiah’s firm stance, Chief Stylz remained adamant, claiming that his team had made an earlier inquiry and booking through Live Nation. He promised to reveal evidence when the time was right.
The tension escalated when Dennis Tawiah threatened to disclose conversations between Stonebwoy’s team and Akwaaba UK publicly. He challenged Stonebwoy and Chief Stylz to come forward and face the truth, stating, “Ask Stonebwoy who has supported him in all his UK shows, including those that were canceled.”
In response, Chief Stylz acknowledged Akwaaba UK’s support to Ghanaian artists, including Stonebwoy. He explained that his team always reaches out to fellow Ghanaians when planning UK events, which is how they became aware of the scheduling conflict.
Still, Dennis Tawiah remained resolute in defending his position, asserting that Stonebwoy’s team only reached out to him on January 4, 2025, long after Akwaaba UK had booked the venue. “I have the evidence. That was when Stonebwoy came to see me. I had already secured my venue a long time ago. I have been organizing Ghana Independence events since 1998,” he emphasized.
With both sides standing firm on their claims, this debate continues to stir discussions within the Ghanaian entertainment industry. Whether further evidence will emerge to clarify the situation remains to be seen.
